About
From Askvoll to Staveneset / Holevik via Stongfjorden
This cycle ride requires a good level of fitness and takes you to one of the westernmost points of Norway's mainland. Stavenes is the site of 30 burial mounds and 11 rock carvings dating back to 1800 BC and up to 500 AD. The road that follows the Eidsfjord then leads on to Stongfjorden climbs over
the steep Stigaberget incline and was opened in 1946. The standard of the road surface is roughly from that time. You are very likely to encounter goats on the trip. The road between Stongfjorden and Holevik is lined with beautiful flowering meadows. We recommend bringing a good picnic with you for a stop.
The trip is approximately 27 km each way.
