Dokka along the ridge is more challenging than the route via Nyskvatnet, with a steep, even gradient all the way to the summit. The walk up offers spectacular views of the entire Dalsfjord and the mountain area towards the Sognefjord. The reward for reaching the top is a magnificent view over Askvoll municipality, and in good weather you can see the North Sea oil and gas platforms.
From the parking area by the waterworks in Holmedal, follow the tractor road until you reach the flat area of land immediately after you emerge from the forest. Go left, climbing gradually, until you meet a path from Vikastølen. Keep left on this trail until you cross a small river, then continue straight up the slope. Part of the route up the ridge to the summit of Dokka follows a trail, and there are spectacular views on the way.You can return to the parking area via Nyksvatnet lake. The round trip takes 3-4 hours.
