Challenging: 4.9 km, 2-2.5 hours up
Moldura is the highest summit in Holmedal. From here, you can see seven parishes, with fantastic views across the mountains from the Jostedal glacier to the North Sea.
Start at the parking area by the waterworks and follow the tractor road towards Vikastølen. From here, there is a good path to Nyskvatnet, the lake that supplies drinking water to Askvoll and Holmedal. You will see Moldura to the north, and the trail takes you past the cabin for day trips. Go left on the waymarked trail to Moldura, which will bring you to a sign showing two different routes to the top. Both routes are possible if there is no snow, but the trail heading straight up is rather exposed and partly on scree. The trail to the left is slightly easier. On reaching the summit, there are fantastic views across the mountains from the Jostedal glacier to the North Sea. This hike is highly recommended, and takes 3-4 hours.
Follow county road fv 609 to 6982 Holmedal centre. Above the church in Holmedal, turn off fv 609 onto the local road towards the mountain. After approx. 1.5 km, turn right and continue for approx. 1 km to the parking area.
